Online Rent Payments with MyResPay Gave me a Glimpse of the Future
I recently enrolled at MyResPay.com to start paying my rent online because I leave town a lot. I started thinking about how modern conveniences such as this increasingly raise our expectations for immediate gratification.
I enjoy not having to write a check every month and deliver it, and I also enjoy having the freedom to pay with my credit card. I have the option to set my card up for recurring billing, making rent payment automatic. It's amazing. At the same time, it's difficult for me to imagine just how fast a large transaction like that can be made.
I predict the future will be full of internet-driven conveniences like this as brick-and-mortar facilities give way to more efficient means of distribution. Paper checks are just the beginning of tangibles we will start to see disappear in time.
I am curious about how our grasp of currency value will adapt to when currency is no longer tangible. Will it make it less real? Value is a perceived notion, so as long as someone values those digits displayed in pixels, then it has value.
Just food for thought.
PS, if you're wondering what started this banter, I've been paying rent online here at MyResPay
